Shamina N
Shamina N and her twin Shakira were born May 2011.
Shamina and Shakira are twin sisters whose early life was marked by hardship. Their mother came to Sonrise Baby Home in desperation after being abandoned by her husband and left to survive alone in a slum. With several other children to care for, she was overwhelmed, and Shamina and Shakira—then the youngest were rapidly becoming malnourished. In her despair, she confessed that she had considered the killing them because she saw no other way out.
When the twins arrived at Sonrise at around 18 months old, they were severely malnourished and unable to walk or crawl.
Today, thanks to loving care and nourishment, Shamina and Shakira are healthy, joyful, and now living at the Sonrise Children’s Home. Shamina especially loves sharing secrets with her sister. The girls enjoy singing, jumping rope, playing games, and soaking up every bit of attention. Their bond is strong, their laughter is contagious, and their lives are a powerful testimony of hope restored.
