Kirabo Mukasekanyana was born November 2010

Kirabo and her brother Godwin were abandoned by their father when they were very young. Before leaving, he sold the family’s home and property, leaving them homeless and with nowhere to go but a neighbor’s house. Their mother, who was seriously ill with AIDS, was frequently in and out of the hospital. Eventually, the local AIDS clinic intervened and brought the children to Sonrise Baby Home for the care and support they desperately needed.

Today, Kirabo is thriving. Now in secondary school, she’s grown tremendously—not just academically, but personally. Once shy and reserved, she has blossomed into a more confident and outgoing young woman. She has a passion for soccer and dreams of one day becmoing either a lawyer or a nurse, eager to make a difference in the lives of others just as her own life has been transformed.
