Luke Waiswa Emma was born November 2010.

Luke and his twin sister Rebecca were brought to the Sonrise Baby Home by the local AIDS Support Organization, both in a state of severe malnutrition. Their mother, who was battling AIDS, was unable to care for them, and their father denied paternity, leaving her and the children without support.

Since coming to the children’s home, Luke has grown into a thoughtful and compassionate young man. Now attending secondary school, he is thriving both academically and emotionally. Luke has a tender heart—he can't bear to see others in pain and is always looking out for those in need.

He dreams of one day becoming a soldier, with hopes of protecting the president and serving his country. Above all, he is driven by a deep desire to succeed in school so he can one day return to care for his ailing mother, whose love and struggle remain close to his heart.
