Lukiya was born healthy, but her life took a tragic turn when her mother sadly passed away, leaving Lukiya without a primary caregiver.

With no other immediate family able to step in, Lukiya was taken in by her aunt, who was already struggling to provide for her own children. Her aunt’s husband opposed taking on another child, as the family was barely able to afford food. Faced with this challenging situation, Lukiya’s aunt sought assistance from the probation office.

The probation officer intervened, requesting Lukiya be accepted to the Sonrise Baby Home. In 2024, Lukiya was transitioned to the Mirembe Cottage for Girls where she has been receiving the care, nourishment, and love she needs to thrive. To this day, the identity of Lukiya’s father remains unknown, as her mother never introduced him, and no one has come forward to claim or inquire about her.
