Sheila A was born February 10, 2011.

Sheila and her older sister Bethany are both part of our Sonrise family now. Their mother, who is HIV-positive, was struggling to care for her large family of ten children. Concerned for the girls' wellbeing, Bethany was becoming malnourished, and Sheila was still being breastfed and at risk of contracting HIV, we stepped in to provide the care they needed. Their mother is still alive but very sick and continually moving and stable.

Since then, both girls have transitioned to the Sonrise Children’s Home and are thriving! Sheila, in particular, has blossomed into a natural advocate, always speaking up for those around her and standing up for what’s right. She has a generous heart and a strong passion for cooking, often jumping in to help wherever she’s needed. Her compassion and leadership shine in everything she does.
